So, here is the masterpiece I've assembled from the 15 interviews, 3 networking events, 1 conference and whatever else I've done to throw my face into the industry. I've had 15 interviews in Minneapolis and Austin Texas. In those fifteen I've met with 24 people, and been introduced or emailed about twenty other people. I didn't get cards from every interview, but this is a good example of the group of people I've met thus far.

So... after being interviewed for an actual position at four of them (Mo.no Ols.on Martin..Williams and Coll.e McV.oy ....weird spelling to stay away from google alerts!)... I just about have a position landed!

I now get to go in tomorrow morning for a test project at Coll...Mcvoy! If me and Jenny (my possible copywriter) can do this and do it as a team, we're most likely the hired interns!

ps: If you can read any of these cards, you've got amazing vision, because I purposely blurred any legible ones....

Finally posting some photos from the trip. I've had a lot of shifts at Joe's and several interviews since I got back, so it's been taking a little bit to get on this.

So here we are on the way from Salt Lake City to the Canyonlands State Park, which is about 6 hours south of there.

Here's the little jem of a camp ground we stayed at the first night. It's a campsite right outside the park owned by the most amazing skinny and leather-skinned rednecks ever. Well, they're not quite rednecks, but they DO display their hate for BinLaden quite obviously on Calvin pissing on Bin Laden stickers, and the like... all over. BUT, they're super sweet and they made us the most amazing breakfast at their shop the morning we left. Cooking tip: add a dash of pure maple syrup to your hashbrowns when they are nearly done.... We waited for the moon every night because it was in full force the whole weekend. We couldn't get to sleep with out a proper moon-gasm. Dave took a long exposure for this one and asked Scott to play around and have some fun in the tent: with a flashlight, to light it up for the photo. ok, inside joke there.

Then in the middle of the night, two crazy, blood hungry animals came into our camp and scared the shit out of us. It turns out it was these two: Nelson and Brezida joining us and setting up their tent at 3:30 am. They hiked through the park from 10pm to 3am with just a crappy flashlight and the light of the moon.

I'm going backpacking through the Canyonlands in southern Utah. I've got ants in my pants about this trip. I'm not nearly prepared, a little nervous about being eaten by a mountain lion, and not sure how I'm going to be packing enough whisky and film. Oh, I still need a 3lb. sleeping bag and maybe a better tent.... got one I can borrow?

I've been seriously considering going over to Japan to teach English: that is if they will have me. As a product of the economy, I'm still not a fully employed art director or designer. I've had at least 9, i said NINE interviews since January, and they are ALL dry, except the internship interviews I had. I've been to: 7th Sin, Gage, Martin Williams, mono, Olson (they might want me as an intern), Periscope, Grandpa-George, two agencies in Austin TX: Toquigny and Sanders/Wingo. Almost all of those were purely meet and greet informational interviews. Gage acted like they wanted me in the near future... that was back in February. I also have three interviews coming up at Fallon, Martin Williams again, and Colle+mcVoy. Fallon needs to reschedule because they had layoffs today.... yup. Colle+mcVoy is purely informational but they set up meetings with THREE people! awesome.... what does that mean? Martin Williams is a repeat, except it's not just informational anymore, but for an internship position. Did I yet mention you should go to: actually, google olson o-terns and go to that blog and watch my video (my amsterdam) and then comment on it if you can and want to. If I give you the link and you click on it, you'll leave footprints and they''ll know I set you up to it.

So what's Japan got to do with all this work and contemplation? WELL, if I get one of these internships... Great! Then I'll be employed for 3 months during Minnesota's beautiful summer. Then when that's over, go to Japan and be happily employed near Tokyo or Kyoto or something. Wow, what a life plan. I'm thinking about focusing on applying at this company. I'll apply at a few, but this company has the best pay for entry level teachers AND the most teaching locations. Plus they look super professional and actually have an English site. You'd be surprised how many of these English teaching recruiting companies don't have English language sites... are you kidding me? Maybe I could hit two birds with one stone and team up with their translator and help them design better English sites. HA!

so i've been in the process of finding myself a great reason to stay in minneapolis over the summer. don't get me wrong, i LOVE minneapolis summers, but i don't just want to be here, i want to get something accomplished this summer. Me and one other guy were invited to be the inaugural posters because we are "front-runner candidates." wooo hoooo!! please happen! i posted the video above, BUT, the thumbnail image was way different! blogger was just too slow at uploading it straight from my computer and vimeo decided to pick the absolute most risque clip from the video.

i'd love to be there. i just started serving again back at Joe's, so that will be super convenient. i don't know how much i'll work my serving job, but i want to save up some cash for my next adventure.... which will be in my next posting.

FINALLY found what I've been looking for all my life. My exquisite and handsome Charlie can finally transform himself into a Charlize when in a pink mood. Or maybe Charlie feels a little edgy and has a craving for eclectic jazz..... They're only fifty dollars: pretty much a steal in my opinion. Plus they come in such classy packaging, not to leave out the ever important net to keep the wig in shape and form while not in use.

I love loved this book. This book is the first female writer I've read from the 1950's who is not prude, but totally honest. I've felt my head thinking the way hers does throughout the book...like when I catch my self being selfish or vain.
